TrainScribe is built to know as little about you as possible. This page explains, in plain language, what data the app handles and where it goes.

No account, no email

You never create an account. We do not ask for, or store, your name, email address, or any other identity. The app only uses a unique, anonymous identifier, with no link to who you are, so that free usage and subscriptions work without any personal information.

Your training data stays on your device

Your sessions, custom activities, and profile are stored locally on your phone. They are not uploaded to a server and we cannot read them. The one exception is under your control: if you enable health sync (below), your workouts are also written to your phone's health store (Health Connect on Android, Apple Health on iPhone), where apps you authorize (such as Google Health) can read them.

Health sync (optional)

You can turn on health sync in Settings (a TrainScribe Pro feature). When enabled, each saved session is also written as a workout (activity type, start and end time, title) to your phone's system health store, after you grant the system permission: Health Connect on Android, Apple Health (HealthKit) on iPhone. Both stores are on-device: TrainScribe sends nothing to Google's or Apple's servers; which apps can then read those workouts is controlled by you in the health store's own settings. TrainScribe only writes workouts; it never reads your health data. Deleting a session removes its workout; erasing all data removes every workout TrainScribe wrote. You can turn the sync off, or revoke the permission in Health Connect or the Health app, at any time.

Voice recordings

When you dictate a recap, your speech is turned into text directly on your device by a speech model bundled with the app. The audio never leaves your phone: it is not uploaded to us or to OpenAI, and it is not stored. The app asks for the microphone permission before the first recording. If you prefer not to use the microphone, you can type your recap to the assistant or enter a session manually instead.

Recap text

Only the text of your recap (not the audio) is processed by an AI model (OpenAI, via our backend) to reconstruct it into a structured session. It is used for that reconstruction and not for advertising or profiling.

Analytics, only if you opt in

The app can share anonymous usage statistics (via PostHog) to help improve it. This is off unless you turn it on, and it never includes your training content or audio. You can change your choice anytime in Settings.

Crash reports

If the app crashes, a technical crash report is sent (via Sentry) so the bug can be fixed. Crash reports do not include your training content.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS) together with RevenueCat. We never see your payment details; we only learn whether your anonymous identifier has an active subscription.
